ἐὰν δέ τις μὴ ποήσει, οἷςἕκαστα προστέτακται, ἢἄρχων ἢ ἰδιώτης, κατὰ τόδετὸ ψήφισμα, ὀφειλέτω ὁ μὴποήσας μυρίας δραχμὰςἱερὰς τῆι Ἀθηνᾶι, καὶ ὁ εὔ–θυνος καὶ οἱ πάρεδροι ἐ–πάναγκες αὐτῶν καταγι–γνωσκόντων ἢ αὐτοὶ ὀφει–λόντων· τὴν δὲ βουλὴν τοὺς𐅅 : ἐπιμελεῖσθαι τοῦ ἀπο–στόλου κολάζουσαν τοὺςἀτακτοῦντας τῶν τριη–ράρχων κατὰ τοὺς νόμους·τοὺς δὲ πρυτάνεις ποεῖνβουλῆς ἕδραν ἐπὶ χώματιπερὶ τοῦ ἀποστόλου συ–νεχῶς, ἕως ἂν ὁ ἀπόστο–λος γένηται· ἑλέσθαι δὲκαὶ ἀποστολέας τὸν δῆ–μον δέκα ἄνδρας ἐξ Ἀ–θηναίων ἁπάντων, τοὺςδὲ αἱρεθέντας ἐπιμε–λεῖσθαι τοῦ ἀποστόλο,καθάπερ τῆι βουλεῖ προσ–τέτακται· εἶναι δὲ τῆιβουλεῖ καὶ τοῖς πρυτάνε–σιν ἐπιμεληθεῖσιν τοῦἀποστόλου στεφανωθῆ–ναι ὑπὸ τοῦ δήμου χρυσῶιστεφάνωι ἀπὸ : Χ : δραχμῶν·ἐὰν δέ τοῦ προσδέει τόδετὸ ψήφισμα τῶν περὶ τὸνἀπόστολον, τὴν βουλὴνκυρίαν εἶναι ψηφίζεσθαιμὴ λύουσαν μηθὲν τῶνἐψηφισμένων τῶι δήμωι·ταῦτα δ’ εἶναι ἅπανταεἰς φυλακὴν τῆς χώρας.

Dekret, aufgrund dessen Miltiadesübernommen hat dieTrieren und Tetrerenund die Dreissigrudererund die Ausrüstung:Kephisophon S.d. Lysiphonaus dem Demos Cholargos stellte den Antrag: zuGlück und Heil des Volkesder Athener, damitauf das schnellste ausgeführt werdendie Beschlüsse des Volkesüber die Koloniein die Adria, wollebeschließen das Volk: dass dieWerftaufseher denTrierarchen übergebendie Schiffe und die Ausrüstunggemäß den Beschlüssen desVolkes; dass die eingesetztenTrierarchen die Schiffean die Reede bringenin dem MonatMounichion vor dem zehntenund sie präsentierenausgerüstet zurFahrt; den ersten, dersie ausgerüstet hat, solldas Volk bekränzen mit goldenemKranz von 500 Drachmen (Wert),den zweiten von 300Drachmen (Wert), den dritten von200 (Drachmen Wert); und derHerold des Rates soll verkündenbeim Wettkampf der Thargelien dieKränze; dass die Apodektaidas Geld für die Kränzeauszahlen, damitöffentlich werde derEhrgeiz gegenüber dem Volk bei denTrierarchen; dass, damit auchdie Einlassungen verhandelt werden,die Thesmotheten dieGerichtshöfe vollzählig machenmit zweihundertundeinem (Richter) fürden General, der für die Sym-morien gewählt ist, in demMonat Mounichion amzweiten und amfünften; und dassden Sold für dieGerichtshöfe dieSchatzmeister der Göttin gegen gemäß demGesetz; und damitdas Volk für alleZeit eigene Märkte undGetreidetransport habe, und durchdie Anlage einer eigenen SchiffsstationSchutz gegenThyrrhener, und damit Miltiades,der Gründer, und die Siedlerüber eine eigene Flotteverfügen, und von denGriechen und Nicht-Griechen diejenigen,die zur See segeln- - - einfahrenin das - - - der Athener,- - - und das übrige- - - dass- - -Lücke von einigen Zeilen

wenn aber einer dies nicht tut, denenein jedes (hiervon) vorgeschrieben ist, obMagistrat oder Privatmann, gemäßdiesem Beschluss, soll, der es nichttut, zehntausend Drachmen schulden,die der Athena verfallen sind, undder Prüfer und seine Kollegensollen sie pflichtgemäßanzeigen oder sollen selbstschuldig sein; und dass der Ratder 500 Sorge trage für dieEntsendung, bestrafend dieordnungswidrigen Trierarchengemäß den Gesetzen;dass die Prytanen die Sitzungdes Rates abhalten auf der Reedeüber die Entsendung inPermanenz, bis die Entsendungerfolgt sein wird; und dass dasVolk als Entsenderzehn Männer aus allenAthenern wähle; dassdie Gewählten Sorgetragen für die Entsendung,so wie vom Rat angeordnet;dass für denRat und die Prytanen,die für die EntsendungSorge tragen, Bekränzung möglichist durch das Volk mit goldenemKranz von 1000 Drachmen (Wert);und falls etwas fehlt in diesemDekret über dieEndsendung, dass der Ratzum Beschluss berechtigt ist,solang er dabei keinen derBeschlüsse des Volkes aufhebt;dass dies alles in die Kategorie“zum Schutz des Landes” gehört.

Decree in accordance with whichMiltiades took over thetriremes and quadriremesand the triacontersand their equipment.Kephisophon son of Lysiphonof Cholargos proposed:for the good fortune of the AthenianPeople, so thatthe decisions of the Peoplemay be carried out as swiftly as possibleconcerning the colonyto the Adriatic, the Peopleshall resolve: that thesupervisors of the shipyardsshall hand over to the trierarchsthe ships and the equipmentin accordance with the decisions of thePeople, and the trierarchswho have been appointed shallbring their ships up along to thejetty in the monthof Mounichion before the tenthand present themprepared forsailing; and the first tobring his ship along, letthe People crown him with a goldcrown of 500 drachmas;and the second with one of 300drachmas; and the thirdwith one of 200 drachmas; andlet the herald of the Council announcethe crowns at the competition of the Thargelia,and the finance officersshall allocate the moneyfor the crowns, so that thelove of honour of the trierarchstowards the People may be apparent;and in order that thepleas for exemption may also be heard,the thesmothetai shallfill the courts totwo hundred and one for thegeneral electedin charge of the symmories, in themonth of Mounichion on thesecond and thefifth, andthe treasurers of the goddessshall provide the paymentfor the courts according to thelaw; and in order that the Peoplemay have for alltime their own markets andgrain transport, and by theestablishment of their own naval stationmay have protection againstthe Etruscans, and Miltiadesthe founder and the settlersmay have use of their ownnavy, and those Greeksand barbarians whosail the seamay sail [safely?] tothe Athenian [market?][bringing grain?] and other things- - - that- - -lacuna

- - - but if anyone, of whom each of these thingshave been required, whetherofficial or private citizen, does not act in accordance with thisdecree, let whoever does not so act oweten thousand drachmassacred to Athena, and let thescrutineer and his assistantscompulsorily condemn them,or owe it themselves;and the Council of500 shall supervise the despatch,punishing anytrierarchs who are disorderlyaccording to the laws;and the prytany shall holda session of the Council on the jettyconcerning the despatch,continuously, until the despatchhas taken place; and the Peopleshall elect as despatchersten men fromall the Athenians; and thoseelected shall supervisethe despatch,as required by the Council;and it shall be permittedfor the Council and the prytanywho have supervised thedespatch to be crownedby the People with a goldcrown of 1,000 drachmas;and if this decreelacks anything in relation to thedespatch, the Councilshall be empowered to vote on it,so long as they do not undo any of whathas been voted by the People;and all these things shall befor the protection of the country.
